THE REAL MEANING OF LIFE

  • #393, Isaiah 46-48

Before I begin my short message, I want to talk a little about a wind storm we experienced where I live last night. I was read a story, a fictional story, and I recently searched for it on the internet but couldn’t find it. It was a good story, about God sending St. Peter to earth to see how well us humans were caring for the planet. As I said, too many years have gone… Continue reading

  • #391: Isaiah 43-45

I know I repeat myself a lot, but if you are a new reader, I want you to be informed. I don’t have all of the answers. Before I study scripture, I pray that God opens my heart and mind to understanding, I ask Him to send His Spirit into me to teach me the truth, and I pray that He puts the right words in my mouth to share to others. I’m not a… Continue reading

  • #390: Isaiah 41-42

Isaiah 42: 5 “Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,As a light to the Gentiles, To… Continue reading

  • #389: Isaiah 40

We now skip over some chapters in the Book of Isaiah, but not to fear, we will return to them in due time. Apparently not even the chapters of Isaiah were compiled in chronological order. And that brings up another question I had not thought of before; I assume each chapter of the book was on one scroll, so who decided which order the scrolls should be compiled? Once again, we find a very poetic… Continue reading

  • #387: 2 Kings 20, Isaiah 38-39

The power of prayer…never underestimate it. The compassion of God, pray for it. We read yesterday where King Hezekiah did good in the site of the Lord, trying to return Israel to what it was when David was King. But Hezekiah has now fallen Ill and is near death. Isaiah the prophet visited and told him to get his affairs in order, as God said he would die. What God threatening Hezekiah with death? No,… Continue reading

  • “Acts of God”

On May 4, 2007, the small town of Greensburg, Kansas was struck with the very first EF-5 tornado, a new method of classifying tornadoes upgraded from the old “Fujita Scale”. As I was relaxing this evening and surfing YouTube, I happened upon a video of that devastating night. I’ve always been fascinated with severe weather, likely started when I became a young fireman whose job was greatly affected by the weather. In the YouTube video… Continue reading

  • #385: 2 Kings 17, 2 Chronicles 29-31

Since we’re studying in chronological order, we now take a break from Isaiah and return to lessons about the kings of Israel and Judah. Greetings, broken record here. Did you ever read about Jesus being wrathful? The only time Jesus was angry was when they had turned the Temple into a flea market, and even then, Jesus never harmed anyone, He simply turned over tables. And we already know that God is just like Jesus… Continue reading

  • #384: Isaiah 35

Interesting chapter. The title in the NKJV is “The Future Glory of Zion”, and I can perceive Isaiah’s words in two different ways. First, I don’t mean to spoil the ending, but eventually Israel separates themselves far enough from God that Babylon comes and takes them into captivity for 70 years. But eventually they return and rebuild Jerusalem. So in one way, Isaiah may be prophesying about this rebuilding. Then again, Isaiah’s words also ring… Continue reading
